Zimplfy or Grammarly?

Two tools that both live inside the apps you already use. They solve different problems, and many people keep both.

Grammarly is a writing assistant. It checks grammar, spelling, punctuation and tone as you type, in the browser, in Word, in email and in most text fields. It is very good at this, especially in English. A free tier covers the basics and paid plans add rewrites and tone changes. Check their site for current plans.

Zimplfy is a reading and writing helper. Select a text in any app and press one shortcut. A small popup opens over the text with five actions: Rewrite, Explain, Summarize, Read aloud and Dictate. The point is not to catch every comma. The point is to get through a hard text, understand what it asks of you, and answer it without a struggle.

The shortest way to say it: Grammarly helps you write correct English. Zimplfy helps you read, understand and write in Swedish and English, including when the text in front of you is the hard part.

Pick Grammarly when

  • You write a lot of English and want every sentence checked as you type.
  • Tone matters: formal, friendly, confident, and you want suggestions while writing.
  • Your team already uses it and shares a style guide.
  • You want a mobile keyboard that corrects as you go.

Pick Zimplfy when

  • The text in front of you is the problem: a letter from the municipality, a contract, a long thread.
  • You want to hear a text instead of reading it, in Swedish or English.
  • You write in Swedish, or switch between Swedish and English during the day.
  • You would rather talk than type, and want clean written text back.

Questions

Does Zimplfy check my grammar while I type?

No. Zimplfy works on text you select, when you ask. The Rewrite action has a Fix grammar style that corrects a selected passage in one go.

Can Zimplfy replace Grammarly?

For live checking of English, no. For reading, understanding and answering a hard text, in Swedish or English, Grammarly does not do what Zimplfy does.

Is my text stored?

No. Text is processed by Claude from Anthropic and streamed back. We keep only anonymous usage counts for the free quota.
